As part of the corporate top brass, you are saddled with many problems.

Day to day, you have to make decisions that can overwhelm the most experienced of secretaries, and which the average employee cannot fathom. This is the price of running the company and having a bigger slice of the profits: you make the tough calls, juggle the numbers, and generally work at a frenzied pace that puts robots to shame.

And yet, even the most grizzled of business owners can find it difficult to keep on top of everyday developments, particularly when their company has grown large. The more people you have under you, the more likely it is that your day consists of rushing from one crucial decision to the next, putting out fires where they happen, and grabbing whatever moment of respite you can.

So how can one man like you, no matter how powerful or high up on the chain, keep track of all these? There are several ways you can organize your time so as to make the most use of them.

Here are some tools that will help you do just that.

    Organize your email

Your corporate email is more than just the inbox, sent and junk folders. In fact, it comes with a host of functions that the average business executive probably doesn’t even know exist.

Use the priority icons to help you know which incoming emails or email contacts are important. You can also create more folders more than just your inbox, so that you have a nice, organized system where you can put specific emails. This way, you don’t have to sort through the whole bunch when looking for something. Archiving email into different categories will save you time and effort.

In addition, by organizing your mail, you can keep track of those you haven’t opened, or replied to. A convenient “chat interface” allows you to see if you replied to an email, rather than searching through your sent mail just to confirm that you did.

    Use scheduler functions

All those electronic gadgets of yours come with calendar and scheduler functions, from your laptop to your mobile phone.

Make use of them to set notes, program reminders, and reserve important dates.

Sign up for mobile data plans

Nowadays, it’s critical to stay connected online, no matter where you are.

Get a wireless subscription for your smart phone or laptop. This way, you aren’t at the mercy of Wi-Fi hotspots every time you need to log on to the net.

Make use of different business tools

The desktop used to be supreme… before the laptop came on the scene.

Now we have the tablet and the smart phone as the next rising business tools. If you find laptops to be too bulky, tote along a business tablet, or just whip out your smart phone and start working.
